Hornbill Cloud and Platform
The Hornbill Platform is a Cloud ready application platform
Hornbill's platform and the applications that run on it are designed from the ground up to support Continuous Delivery for software releases. Our platform and applications are continuously and automatically updated to ensure that all of our customers always have the latest features and fixes, this is done completely automatically without any service down time and we guarantee that all customization and integrations will continue to work.
ISO 27001 (formally known as ISO/IEC 27001:2005) is a specification for an information security management system (ISMS). An ISMS is a framework of policies and procedures that includes all legal, physical and technical controls involved in an organisation's information risk management processes. Being IS0 27001 accredited means that we have proven to an external body that we comply with all regulations and requirements, therefore ensuring that security (both information and physical)/risk management and other best practices are ingrained in everything we do through the processes we follow.
Hornbill provides a very flexible elastic storage scheme that gives customers unlimited cloud storage where you only pay for what you actually use.
Hornbill only measures space used by your instances data, it does not measure disk space used by our software or any infrastructure components we deploy in order to deliver the Hornbill service. The measurement is broken down into two separate domains known as "Disk Storage" and "Database Storage". We separate these two for good reason. For "Database Storage" the underlying database we use (MariaDB) and its storage engine determine the space utilized for a given database (each customer instance has its own dedicated database). For "Disk Storage" this is where we store files (see explanation of our Content Addressable File Store technology) below, each customer also has their own CAFS store.
The Hornbill platform supports single-sign-on as well as policy-based transparent auto provisioning and data updates of both user and guest accounts thus providing enterprise-class user identity integration with your organisations core IT directory services.
The Hornbill LDAP User Import Utility provides a simple, safe and secure way to create new Hornbill User Accounts and update existing ones by synchronizing with accounts held in your Active Directory or other industry standard LDAP capable directory service. The tool is designed to run behind your corporate firewall, connect to your LDAP service, query the required account information, transform and load into the Hornbill instance.
The Hornbill SQL User Import Utility provides a simple, safe and secure way to create user accounts on the Hornbill platform by synchronizing with accounts held in your Database. The tool is designed to run behind your corporate firewall, connect to your database, query the required account information, transform and load into the Hornbill instance.
The Hornbill Database Asset Import Utility provides a simple, safe and secure way to create and update asset records on the Hornbill platform, by reading asset records from your asset discovery tool, or another database containing asset records. The tool is designed to run behind your corporate firewall, connect to your asset database server, query the required information, then transform and load the records into your Hornbill instance.
Hornbill partners with a number of organisations for services that contribute in the delivery of our platform service as described in our Terms of Service. Because our suppliers provide us services that we use in order to deliver our service to our customers, our suppliers could be considered Sub-processors.
